Terms of Service
Last updated: 29 August 2026
These terms govern your use of Rootstock Entertainments — as a viewer who rents and watches, and as a producer who distributes. Please read them carefully.
Acceptance of terms
By creating an account, renting a title, or otherwise using Rootstock Entertainments (“Rootstock”, “we”, “us”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
Accounts & eligibility
You need an account to rent and watch. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and are responsible for activity under your account. You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use the service.
Rentals, payments & access
Rootstock operates primarily on a rent-to-watch model:
- Renting a title grants a time-limited entitlement to watch it — not ownership.
- Your rental window (for example, 48 hours) begins on first playback, and you can watch as often as you like within it.
- Streaming happens in the Rootstock app. The website is for discovery and trailers; it does not stream full titles.
- Prices are shown before purchase. Payments are processed by our payment provider and verified server-side before access is granted.
- Access may be subject to territory, device and concurrent-stream limits.
Refunds
Because rentals grant immediate access to digital content, they are generally non-refundable once playback has begun. If a title fails to play due to a technical fault on our side, contact support and we will make it right — with a re-grant or a refund where appropriate.
Content & intellectual property
All titles are protected by copyright and licensed to you for personal, non-commercial viewing only. You may not download (except via official offline features), copy, record, redistribute, publicly perform, or circumvent any content protection. All trademarks and platform software remain the property of Rootstock and its licensors.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Share your account or rental access in a way that circumvents stream limits.
- Attempt to capture, rip or redistribute streamed content.
- Probe, scrape, or disrupt the platform, or bypass security controls.
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
Producer & creator terms
If you distribute content on Rootstock as a producer or creator, additional terms apply, set out in your commercial agreement:
- You warrant that you own or control all rights necessary to distribute your content.
- You earn a revenue share on eligible rentals, calculated from the terms in your contract.
- Statements and payouts are provided per settlement period; historical statements remain fixed even if terms change later.
- Rootstock will not publish your content beyond your licensed rights or territories.
Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Catalogue availability may change as licensing windows begin and end.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rootstock is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the rental or transaction giving rise to the claim.
Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or use the platform in a way that harms other users, creators, or Rootstock. Active rentals may be forfeited in cases of serious abuse.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Rootstock operates, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be subject to the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “last updated” date and, where appropriate, in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
